On 28 February 2026, MSOS members came together for a half-day teambuilding that also marked something much bigger for the organisation: the opening of the new MSOS Hub.
After months of work during the winter, the renovated space was finally ready to be shown to the people it was created for.
The gathering was deliberately informal. Members spent the day talking, playing games, eating together, remembering old MSOS stories, and discussing what the organisation has built so far and where it wants to go next.
At the same time, everyone had the chance to see the Hub not simply as a renovated room, but as a new shared space for the student community.

Makedonsko kulturno drustvo Makedonija supported the renovation and development of the Hub. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia provided financial support for the renovation and development of the space. MSOS added further funding from the organisation's own saved finances, together with the renovation work, organisation, and future management of the Hub.
A new space for the community
The Hub was renovated during the winter with the support of Makedonsko kulturno drustvo Makedonija, financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia, and part of MSOS's own saved finances.
The goal was never simply to have an office.
MSOS wanted a place that students could actually use. A place for smaller events, workshops, meetings, cultural activities, informal gatherings, project work, celebrations, parties, and the many everyday moments that do not need a large venue but still need a home.
For an organisation built around students living away from Macedonia, having a physical space also creates something less measurable: continuity. It gives members somewhere to meet, plan, create, and return to.
A day for the people behind MSOS
The opening was combined with a teambuilding because the space only makes sense when it is connected to the people who keep the organisation moving.
Throughout the day, members talked about MSOS, the activities organised over the years, and the different ways people have contributed to the organisation. There was time to look back, but also to talk about future ideas and how the Hub could help make more of them possible.
The gathering was not structured as a formal meeting. Instead, the programme moved naturally between conversations, games, food, and activities that gave newer and older members a chance to spend time together outside the usual event-planning environment.
Games, homemade food, and a little MSOS history
One of the activities tested how well members really knew MSOS.
The quiz covered the organisation's roots, past events, projects, and moments from its development. It was a light way to revisit the story of MSOS while giving newer members a chance to discover details they might not have known.
The rest of the day followed the same relaxed rhythm. Homemade food was prepared for the gathering, together with different snacks and drinks. Among the drinks was Skopsko beer, adding a familiar Macedonian detail to a day centred on community.
More than anything, the food and games created the kind of atmosphere the Hub is meant to support in the future: informal, open, and easy to join.
A small thank you to the people who keep showing up
The gathering was also an opportunity to recognise the members who have given their time, ideas, and energy to MSOS.
Members received small thank-you notes as a personal sign of appreciation for their contribution to the organisation.
It was a simple gesture, but an important one. MSOS has grown through people volunteering their time around studies, work, and everyday responsibilities. The Hub itself is another result of that accumulated effort.
Opening the space together therefore felt like the right moment to say thank you.
What the Hub is here for
The opening on 28 February was only the beginning.
The MSOS Hub is intended to become a flexible home for smaller parts of student life that are often difficult to organise elsewhere. It can host planning meetings, workshops, cultural evenings, smaller educational activities, project sessions, social gatherings, celebrations, parties, and informal meet-ups.
It can also become a place where a new student can enter without needing a formal reason to be there.
The purpose is simple: to give the Macedonian student community in Slovenia a space where ideas can start, people can meet, and smaller moments can grow into future projects.
For MSOS, the Hub is not only a new room. It is infrastructure for the next chapter of the organisation.
