Your first step toward Slovenia does not have to be taken alone.
Studying in another country brings excitement, new opportunities and many plans, but it also brings questions. How will I manage? Where will I live? What are the studies really like? How much does student life cost? Will I know anyone there?
At the same time, future students are often supported by parents who have questions and concerns of their own. Will everything be okay? Will my child manage? Will there be someone they can turn to if they need help?
That is exactly why, for the fourth year in a row, MSOS is organizing Meet Student Slovenia 2026, an event created for future students and their parents to speak directly with Macedonian students who already study and live in Slovenia.
Not just information from the internet or brochures, but real experiences, advice and answers first hand.

Honest conversations about student life in Slovenia
The students who live in Slovenia today were once in exactly the same position as you. They also had to choose a university for the first time, search for a student dorm or an apartment, and figure out how student meal subsidies, documents, lectures and exams work. They also wondered what life away from home would be like and whether they would find their place in a new environment.
Today, they can tell you what all of that really looks like. What was difficult, what surprised them, what they would do differently and what they wish someone had told them before they left.
That is why Meet Student Slovenia is not a classic presentation. It is a conversation. A space where you can hear real student stories and directly ask the questions that matter to you.
Maybe you already know exactly what you want to study. Maybe you are still choosing between universities, cities or study programmes. Or maybe you are only now starting to consider Slovenia as an option. Whatever your situation, this event can be a place to begin.

From choosing a university to everyday student life
At the event, we will talk about the questions future students most often have before moving to Slovenia. We will discuss choosing a university and study programme, the application process and preparations before moving, student dormitories and private accommodation, living costs, student meal subsidies, classes, exams and everyday university responsibilities.
We will also talk about the things that are not always written on official websites: what the first weeks in a new city feel like, how you build a new circle of friends, how you adjust to a new environment and which small practical details you usually discover only after you arrive.
Most importantly, there will be space for your questions. Sometimes one specific question and one sincere answer can make a big difference.
The panelists and the full agenda for Meet Student Slovenia 2026 will be announced at a later date.

You are not starting from zero
When you move to another country, it can feel as if you have to figure everything out on your own. But many students have already taken the same first steps, asked the same questions and faced the same unknowns before you.
Someone has already searched for the student dorm you may be looking for tomorrow. Someone has already sat in their first lecture without knowing anyone. Someone has already gone through their first difficult exam, their first week away from home and that moment when a new city slowly starts to feel familiar.
That is at the heart of MSOS. Being there for one another.
Today, a student will share their experience with you. Tomorrow, you may be the person helping someone who is only beginning the same journey. That is how information becomes support, acquaintances become friendships and a community is built from one generation to the next.
Parents, this event is for you too
The decision for your child to study in another country is a big step for the whole family. Alongside pride and excitement, many practical questions naturally arise. Where will they live? How will they manage? How does the system work? What if they need help? Will there be people around them they can turn to?
That is why we want parents to be part of Meet Student Slovenia 2026 as well. This is an opportunity to speak directly with students who already live there, hear their experiences and gain a clearer picture of what everyday student life in Slovenia is really like.
We cannot remove every concern, but we can make the unknown much more familiar. When you know what to expect and know that a community is already there, the big step becomes easier.

Building this story together for the fourth year
Meet Student Slovenia is taking place for the fourth time this year. With every new edition, we meet a new generation of young people considering studying in Slovenia, while also connecting generations of students who have already taken that path.
For some, this will be the place where they finally get an answer to a question they have had for months. For others, it may be the first time they meet someone they will later see again in Ljubljana, Maribor, Nova Gorica, Celje or the Primorska region.
That is why, for us, this event is more than sharing information. It is a first connection with a community that continues long after the event itself is over.
